Many visitors feel they need a full-day private tour to see everything, but if you’re traveling on a budget, we have a great hack for you. Most "Half-Day" tours end around 1:00 PM. Instead of taking the shuttle back to your hotel in Tanah Rata, ask your guide to drop you off in Brinchang.
Brinchang is the highest town in the highlands and is incredibly walkable. From the drop-off point, you can visit the Big Red Strawberry Farm and the Cactus Valley on foot. Both offer free entry (though you might be tempted by the café!).
The Scenic Walk Back
Once you’ve explored Brinchang, you can take a slow walk back towards Tanah Rata along the main road. The distance is about 4km, and the downhill walk is cool and refreshing. You’ll pass several local nurseries and smaller tea shops along the way that most tour buses simply drive past.
By doing this, you turn a 4-hour tour into a full day of exploration for the price of a local coffee!
